Momma Bird is Nesting

...And this time it is not me. For those following for awhile and those who may have followed my previous blog Sporting Baby Porter #3. This title may be familiar. Although this post has nothing to do with me nesting -- it is Momma bird.

Momma bird has been making nests like mad! There was this one at the top of the house in the eves.

and one at the side of the house that we found on a ground. Obviously this place didn't make the cut it just didn't stay put.

And then finally after one night of us all having dinner on the back porch -- umbrella up and all. Momma bird decided she would get to work again. Not up high in the eves... this would be unsafe and far too high for her babies, not at the side of the house... this would be unstable. She decided to build her nest here instead.

Right under the patio umbrella. Blocked from the rain and safe enough away from the dog bothering her. Lilly found her nest the very next day around lunch time from when we had dinner right there. We haven't eaten out there since because we would hate to disturb her. I know her eggs now rest in that nest because she sits there most of the day. She does often fly over to the fence when we head out the back door or she feels threatened at all. But, I will tell you that that nest is never once out of her sight. I am very curious to see what lies inside but do not dare to look in case she decides to attack or even worse abandon her babes. We are all looking forward to seeing her bring food to them and hear their little squeaks beckoning for her. We can't wait to see their little beaks pop over the top of that nest. Hopefully we will be able to capture that on camera too!

Natures beauty -- so amazing! We are thrilled to witness it so close to our home. We are thrilled to watch our girls witness it with us.
