A Day at the Ranch

Liam and I took the girls to West Winds Ranch in Westport today. It was a fun time. We got to get up close and personal with the animals. We got to feed the goats, sheep, donkeys and even Spot, the pot bellied pig. Spot was my absolute fav! I have decided when we get the farm of our dreams I am going to have a pot bellied pig of my own. He ate marshmallows right from our hands and was gentle as can be! I was surprised at Abigail feeding the goats and sheep but she quite enjoyed it. We couldn't get her on a pony ride though. She didn't even want to sit on him. Lilly went though, and enjoyed it as much as every other time she has rode. We would definately go back to the ranch again. It was a great time! Oh yeah... up on the wall in the barn we saw Lilly Porter writen. We found out they are names of two different horses on the ranch and just so happened to be written side by side.

Abigail's Day Surgery

We arrived at KGH at 830 and went up to day surgery to check in. All was well during check-in. The lovely nurse took Abigail's vitals and then we were sent to the playroom to wait for the anithisist to come and talk to us. Abigail had a blast playing and it was so cute too. She was running around in her little white and yellow stripity gown with her little diapered butt sticking out! I was sad that I had forgotten to take my camera with me. Anna had met us there and used her camera to get some shots. Hopefully I will be able to get them and post them for everyone to see.

Just before 1000 the anithisist showed up and he asked us some questions. Before long we were getting called back to surgery. The room was scary! Looked just like the movies. Abigail started crying even before we entered the room at the site of her Mommy in a funny gown and cap! She continued to cry and then scream when I laid her down for them to gas her. It was horrible to have your baby laying there all helpless while someone held a mask over her face. I kept my composure though and after what seemed like minutes later they asked me to leave. Abigail was still fussing (but with her eyes closed). They told me she was REALLY fighting it! One of the nurses showed me out and took me to where recovery would be. As I took a few steps closer to the room I heared a baby crying.... tell me that's not her! The nurse smiled at me and said "Hon, it's okay... she is asleep". I sobbed LOL and sobbed. Felt VERY silly but the nurse assured me that this was a normal reaction from mothers (even when they weren't pregnant)!

After a very short time I got called on the phone again saying Abigail was in recovery and they were ready for me. It is funny how they tell you you will be with them when they wake up... not the case. I could hear her sobbing on the phone yelling "Mommy! Mommy!" it was aweful. Even after I arrived in revovery to console my child she continued to scream and sob and yell "Mommy!". That child was MAD! She wanted to go home.... and we did (after about half an hour). The second we stepped foot outside the hospital all was well and I pray that I NEVER have to go through this again with another child. Thank God for making Mommies strong.

A Play Date With Hayley

The girls and I headed over to Rotary Park after lunch today to meet up with Katie and Hayley or "Kayley" as Lilly calls her. The girls played for a few hours there and kept quite happy. Sometimes they would play together and sometimes with other children that were at the park. In the end before we left we were the only ones left there. I think all the other kiddies had gone home for a nap :) The girls loved the swings and the slides and Abigail crawled through this big red tube over, and over and over again! Hayley was the little climber and she is getting really good at the monkey bars! Lilly thought she would have a go at climbing and it turned out to be disasterous! She got way up high and got stuck and Mommy had to rescue her. She was so high that she had to fall backwards a bit into Mommy's arms! We got to see many ducks and geese too. They were all right there in the lawn and when we walked over they flew a short bit into the water. We got to sit there for awhile and admire them. We had a fun and tiring day and I am looking forward to some quiet time while I ship both girls off for a nap!

Gramma's Memorial

I am updating now with this as I am sure tomorrow will be too busy. Liam's Gramma Wilde (Leila) passed away on Sunday. The last month has been rough for her being in the hosiptal with a broken hip from a fall and having two surgeries to try and fix it. She is now in a better place and we will be attending her memorial tomorrow afternoon to remember just how wonderful Leila was and how much her family and friends love her.

Our Early Morning Wake Up Call

Around 2:30 this am Lilly decided to grace us with her presence. She woke us up to tell us she was scared being all alone and mad at Daddy for closing her bedroom door on her! LOL We made her use the toilet and then Liam took her back to her bed and tucked her in.... this time making sure he left her door open. She then slept right through the night. Nothing quite liked getting woken up from a deep sleep. Then, I think of all the parents out there who struggle with their children EVERY night to get them to sleep. Our girls are sleep angels and thankfully we have been blessed that way! Hope you are all as lucky as us!!

Lilly's Heart and Abigail's Ears

Lilly went to see the doctor on Wednesday and Dr. Clarke discovered Lilly has a heart murmur. She is almost deffinate that the heart murmur that Lilly has is an innocent one as when she laid down it became less noticable. We have a referal for an ultrasound of Lilly's heart to be certian. Dr. Clarke explained that if it is innocent that every time she hears it she will not have to worry about it. I did some google searching to find out more about murmurs and here is what I found.

What is a heart murmur?
A heart murmur is an extra sound that the blood makes as it flows through the heart. Your doctor uses a stethoscope to listen to your heartbeat. When you have a heart murmur, your doctor can hear an extra whooshing or swishing noise along with your heartbeat.
It can be scary to learn that you or your child has a heart murmur. But heart murmurs are very common, especially in children, and are usually harmless. These normal murmurs are called "innocent" heart murmurs. There is nothing wrong with your heart when you have an innocent murmur. Up to half of all children have innocent murmurs.They usually go away as children grow.

Adults can have innocent murmurs too. They can happen when your blood flows harder and faster than usual—during pregnancy, for example, or a temporary illness, such as a fever. They usually go away on their own.

Also, I finally got an appointment date for Abigail's day surgery for her tubes. Abigail will be getting them put in on the 26th of this month. Time is quickly passing in regards to many appointments. We are possitve about it all though and will soon be assured that both our girls are very healthy!

Pillows Galore!

I am sitting on the couch right now trying to update this blog with Abigail practically on my lap! I sit near the end of the couch and Abigail feels she needs to squeeze her tiny little bum into the space between me and the side of the couch. I ask her repeatedly to come to the other side to watch Mommy but she cries and wines until I let her squeeze in! LOL

The other day, the girls were playing with all of the pillows in Abby's room. They make a line out of them on the floor and jump to each one, or pile them high and jump ontop. Pillows are loads of fun you know?! LOL Anyway... at nap time I moved all of the pillows away from Abigail's bed so she could nap properly and went off to do my business. I checked on Abigail awhile later and here she was in bed with every pillow piled high in her bed laying on them! She woke from her nap a bit prematurely... it's no wonder really. It doesn't look all that comfortable does it?

Picton Fair and Abigail's First Ride!

At the picton fair Mommy literally wobbled around and we were there for maybe 45 mins tops with my VERY sore back. Abigail got to go on her first ride... which I am not sure she really enjoyed at first until we kept making sound effects every time she passed. Lilly loved the jeep ride as you can see by the smile on her face. It got really fast around that one corner as it went down a hill a tiny bit... she had a blast. Then in her glory she got to ride a pony.... which was not exactly new to her but riding with a saddle was. The short visit was worth the smiles but Mommy needed to head right home to rest her aching back... after of course, the girls had a quick walk through the petting zoo.
